Belle Armoire is Available!

I got a great surprise in the mail today! A copy of Belle Armoire Magazine that has an article I wrote in it!

I've written a bit about the vests that I made for their challenge--to create garments inspired by the musical Wicked. I thought the challenge was right up my alley, and I was really excited. I created two vests that I thought might ork, and mailed them off to Laguna Beach, CA, where the Stampington and Company offices are--they're the folks that publish the magazine.

A couple weeks later, I was notified that I was selected to be published! And the magazine has finally hit the shelves!

I'm stoked out of my gourd!

I was sent a "proof" of the article, and I'd post it here if I could, but I think that might be breaking some copyright laws... Needless to say, they took some great photos, and the article they asked me to write looks good! I'm quite proud of it--I urge you all to go get a copy!

Nothing like this has ever happened to me before, and it's quite validating for me... I'm encouraged to keep making artwear pieces. My current "Relished Fairy Tales" series is hopefully a step in the right direction. I worked on modifying the vest pattern I used for Little Red into something a bit more in the vein of what I have envisioned for Sleeping Beauty, and I'm very excited about how she's going to turn out.

I'm getting a lot of "mileage" out of the original pattern that I developed... I've made holiday vests from it, made a tutorial on how I constructed it, and then used it again for Elphaba, Glinda, and Little Red. And all those patterns were actually adapted from yet another pattern that I used for some of my black velour pieces in my Etsy and Artfire shops for Relished Artistry.

In the back of this newest issue of Belle Armoire, they published some more challenges for upcoming months. They mention me again, as I made two vests from the same pattern. Their challenge is called "A Vested Interest", and they're encouraging others to do the exact same thing I did! How cool is that?? Artwork is due by February 15, 2011... Hmm... Sounds tempting... hehe... : )

Until next time, Live Life with Relish!

  1. Congrats! You're now published. I don't think we have Belle Armoire Magazine here otherwise I would go take a look.
